Biography
Andrea Antonelli is a visual artist, especially involved in directing and photography. He was born in Rome in 7th March 1997 and since he was a child he has been attracted by everything about monsters, dark folk, esoterism, horror, sense of wonder and macabre. He graduated firstly in Cinema and new media, then in a second level course of Editorial Photography, at Academy of Fine Arts of Rome, and at the end he has done a 2 years videomaking course at Roberto Rossellini film academy. Despite he started his photographic career only few years ago, he has already collected several work experiences in this area, also internationally. Recently, in Berlin, he has worked as assistant for the worldwide known artist and photographer Evelyn Bencicova, who changes his perspective about creative possibilities allowed in photography. As a photographer he has achieved several publications in important european and american magazines about fashion and fine art photography, like MALVIE, Selin Magazine, Rem Fashion Europe, Goji Magazine and PRAZE Magazine. They especially appreciate the inventiveness of his style, a combination of beauty and bizarre with many influences from cinema and pop art but at the same time from classical art and history. His photographic projects have shown in several exhibitions: from important art galleries in Rome as the Tevere Art Gallery, to international festival about photography, as the “Les Off des Rencontres d’Arles”, one of the most prestigious photographic exhibition in Europe. As a filmaker, he directed in 2023 his first short movie, Il Diavolo, that was selected as finalist of the FIPILI Horror Festival (Livorno), one of the most important italian film festival connected with horror and fantastic. In 2024 he’s releasing his second short horror movie, Juju.
